Product Review: Custom Cones USA (DaySavers, Smoke Temple + Fill-A Blunt)

Let me start by saying: I messed up.

Last October, I launched the AWARD rebrand and asked for brands to send products my way for a review. Custom Cones USA took me up on that offer—sent me a smorgasbord of pre rolled cones, tubes, filter tips, and more around November or December 2024.

Then…well, work happened, and I’m only just now posting this in February 2025. Sorry for the hold-up, Custom Cones USA.

And a quick disclaimer: This isn’t a paid gig—just me telling you how I feel about their DaySavers, Smoke Temple, and Fill-a Blunt products they sent over.

About Custom Cones USA?

Custom Cones USA positions itself as the pre-roll expert

They emphasize high-grade rolling papers, cones, filters, and packaging—lab-tested for metals, pesticides, and any other unwanted elements. In a space where a lot of pre-roll gear is questionable at best, these folks aim to stand out by handling all the behind-the-scenes R&D and compliance.

The brand was started in 2017 in a Seattle living room, founded by two ex-Amazon guys who decided to apply their e-commerce chops to weed. Flash forward a few years, and they’re a significant name in the industry, offering everything from pre-roledl cones to industrial machines for mass production.

The Brands

DaySavers: The Everyday Cone Hero

DaySavers is ideal for folks who want a reliable, consistent smoke without doing much work beyond packing the joint. With warm, vibrant designs, the packaging stands out with a clear vibe intention. Some of the products I tried included:

Overall, I mostly enjoyed their unflavored filter tips (ceramic, wood, glass) for the clean, unobstructed taste. The flavored tips seem better for folks who want something sweet or need to camouflage not-so-great weed. If you’re smoking anything decent, I’d skip the flavor, but that’s just me.

Smoke Temple: Edgy Lux (and My Personal Aesthetic)

While DaySavers are the daily driver, Smoke Temple leans into a more premium, moody vibe.

They bill themselves as the home of the original pre-roll Cross Cone—coming in a cardboard coffin for that extra dark flourish. Unfortunately, I didn’t get my hands on that coffin cone this time around, but I did try their white papers in both king size and 1¼.

Here’s the deal:

  • Awesome Aesthetic: The packaging has those gothic, edgy design elements. I especially liked the praying-hands filter tips in one of their rolling kits.
  • Clean Smoke: The papers are top-notch, no added flavors or aromas. I rolled up a couple joints for a goth rave on New Year’s Eve, and they fit the atmosphere perfectly. Nothing beats lighting a nice, moody joint while the industrial beats rattle your bones.

One day, I’ll absolutely get that Cross Cone.

Do I need one? No.

But do I want one? Absolutely.

Fill-a Blunt: For the Big Smokers

Now, if you’re into blunts but can’t roll to save your life (welcome to the club!), Fill-a Blunt has you covered. These are 2g-capacity hemp wrap tubes with various filter-tip options—wood, glass, spiral, etc. It’s basically blunt rolling for dummies, and I mean that in the best way possible.

I don’t normally do blunts these days (tobacco and I aren’t on speaking terms), but hemp wraps are a nice middle ground. I shared a 2g doink with a buddy before the Last Podcast on the Left live show in Brooklyn this past December. Needless to say, we were good and lit for much of the discussion about some morbid topics–and isn’t that a perfect combo?

My Favorite Finds

Custom Cones rolled out a number of cool, unique designs to match the needs of smokers, from paper and blunt rollers to those needing some help or anyone who simply doesn’t want to make a J or a blunt themselves.

That said, of everything I tried. I found myself loving the rolling papers and kits above all else. Both Smoke Temple and DaySavers king size and 1 ¼ refined papers did the job for me. I like the design, and way more important, the smokes were enjoyable and consistent over several rolls and smokes.

Final Thoughts: Would I Buy Custom Cones?

I enjoyed much of what Custom Cones USA sent my way–and would absolutely buy some of their products, namely the rolling papers and unflavored filter tips. Additionally, I could see myself grabbing some products for several kinds of pot loving friends, including:

  • Beginners or busy smokers
  • Anyone who loves fancy or gothic aesthetics
  • Anyone who loves fun designs
  • Blunt enthusiasts

In the end, I’m stoked Custom Cones USA let me try their gear. It’s refreshing to see a brand care about both style and substance. And yeah, I know some die-hards will say “learn to roll,” but not all of us have the patience (or skill) to do it the old-fashioned way. If you’re happy just packing, twisting, and sparking up, these lines are worth looking into.

So there you have it: my overdue, mildly rambling review of the brand that brought me days (and nights) of smoky bliss. If you end up snagging that infamous Cross Cone, do me a favor and show me pictures (especially if you smoked it during the new Robert Eggers Nosferatu).
